The results are looking heaps better than I expected.

Can anyone confirm the grade/type of oil Ford recommends for the BA XR8?

I will if I can get motivated enough to go to the glovebox and get the manual!

Well if it's in there I can't find it!!!???

Re: Does your Boss 260/290 use more than 500ml oil per 1000kms?

According to my owners manual they say to use 10w 30 oil. So thats what I use.

I used 20w 60 BP course plus in my old XF because it had lifter problem and was starting to use oil at 240000km. I,d think twice about that in your new engine Shane 3.
A 60 grade oil is for older engines I believe. But I have been wrong before.

I have heard of some people running a mineral base oil for 5000km or so to help calm their oil consumption problem and had success.

found it! TS 50 is right 10W-30. It's hidden in the warranty and service guide?

Re: Does your Boss 260/290 use more than 500ml oil per 1000kms?

my xr8 used oil in the first 5000kms, about 3litre

i have noticed hardly any oil usage and i have 16000kms
i do oil changes every 5000kms and the last 2 changes didnt require top ups, maybe about 5-10mm of the dipstick in 5000kms

All these oil threads and the associated whingers must have made me paranoid! I just checked my oil for the 1st time in 5000ks and im pleased to report oil is still clean and right on the full mark.

Phew....

32,000 klms and not a single drop of oil used.

God, I love BOSS engines....
