I am thinking of buying and EL Fairmont and i am just wondering what performance modifications i could do to it once i get it to make it perform and look better.
Any advice would be great!
heaps of options.
depends if you're getting a I6 or V8
if its an I6 then you could try Jim Mock Motorsport (search the forums)
or forced induction, there are a few kits around now for turboing/super charging the I6, if its a V8 then try Herrod Motorsport and again, forced induction
try www.ssv.com.au for body kits etc.
and your local tyre places are the best for mags

a friend has an EF fairmont non ghia. the fairmonts came out with the high output motor which is about 165kw or something like that. the EF will drag of any standard AU6 (nonXR) for the first 150m then the AU kicks in and over powers the EF. ghias do hve the XR6 motor as well.
Just the Ghia's have HP red motor, 161kw in Ghia trim with quiet exhuast. It was built to compete with the s/c Calais. it copped a power drop because of noise of the big exhaust from the XR6.
It may have been an option on the standard fairmont but I am 99.9% sure it wasn't. Never seen one with it. Unless it was fitted later (easy to do).
A Ghia with all the options, change the diff to 3.45 and get a good exhaust and cam and you'll have a 5.0 eater, well, stock 5.0 eater hehehe.
My Fairmont has the standard 4.0i OHC - not the MPI like the Ghias/XR6s. It may have been an option but if I remember correctly it was either the 4.0i OHC or the 5.0L V8. :) The 4.0i OHC is about 157kw and the Ghias clocked up about 162kw.
