Drive-in Woes

Took the XR8 to the Drive In last night (Heddon Greta - one of the last still operating in NSW - and it was pretty well packed!) and I have a bit of a complaint.

It was good that I could turn the Premium Sound on whilst the keys were out of the ignition, but during a dark night, there's nothing worse - and probably as power hungry - as that rotten full-colour display! It was brighter than the movie screen! Maybe I should have been watching the movie on it instead!

Our only solution was to tape a road map over the bastard of a thing.

Does anyone know how the display might be turned off to save power / avoid blinding In-Car Drive-In viewers....while listening to the radio?

Re: Drive-in Woes

Very simple - hold the power / volume button for three seconds until a chime is heard.

What I really want to figure out is how to get full brightness mode when running with headlights on during the day!

Re: Drive-in Woes

Just hold down the power button till it beeps and it turns the screen off with the stereo still working. It will come back on when a button is pressed and it will automatically turn the screen off again after a few seconds.
