Ford have replaced the driving lights of the Fairmont Ghia and Fairlanes with "cornering lights" - with your lights on + indicator on = cornering lights. All be retrofitted at the next service.
Not a bad comprimise. I've hardly ever used my driving/fog lights in my current car and if it limits the idiots on the road (like Comm SS drivers) having them on 100% of the time, it's all good.
just out of interest, what is the point of 'cornering lamps'?! from all the explanations of what they do they sound pretty useless and they'd look a little weird going on for a second then off again.
does anybody actually use them, and do they make any difference whatsoever?
That would explain what I saw at the tour of the Ford Factory then, I saw the lights still being fitted down the bottom of the Fairlane etc. so they must be the new ones.

So now that I have a set of the old lights bought from dealer spare parts back in March (but not yet installed) am I supposed to return them for a swap or just install them and see if i get stopped by the police.
Curls they should wire them up as turning lamps for you. That way they are legal, as there may be insurance implications if you install them the old way.
They would look far better turned on with the park lamps..maybe i might try both indicator and parklamp wiring...hehehe
Because they were mounted to low, and because there wasnt a separate switch for them on the dash. By the way they arent foglamps, all they are is Parking Lamps which use a blue bulb. Unlike real foglamps you cant see a thing with them on at night (My cars got them so I can assure you this).
Geez, someone at Ford was asleep at the wheel there!
PS one of my pet hates is people who drive with parkers on - they don't make any difference, use your headlights! Perhaps parkers should use a 20W bulb not 5W so they would be useful as daytime running lamps, or better still have both.
