Dumb question of the day.

Ford and others on the forums have stated "the ECU on the BOSS cannot be cracked and therefore a Ford equivilent to the LSedit software for the Gen3s will not happen".

Ford can upload updates into the ECU therefore they are programmable.

To quote another Queenslander...... Please Explain?

Ford own the technology (have exclusive license to use, whatever) and no one else does.

It is Ford's view that this technology will not be cracked (ie. something like LSedit)

Time will tell if they are correct or not.

Possibly a good idea of the ford equivalent of LS1Edit. Most of the ls1 guys have this as the "usual" mods, along with exhaust, headers, CAI, maf and TB's.

I've been investigating the unichip and wondering the same thing if editing software for the Boss engines would give more gain.

no ecu cracking ... interceptor chips end up doing the same, doubt if you could more power by programming the original ecu ... it mostly comes back to a/f & timing ...

You can get 350Kw by installing the Herrod's full exhaust and their chip.

I'de say the Boss290...you get close to 300kw's in the XR8 with the full zorst and chip, airbox mods

Well funny you should mention this subject. I actually reflashed an XR8 this week with GT calibrations so it can be done. All you need is the correct calibration numbers and it IS quite possible.(Forgot to mention that you also need a WDS)
