E series ancillaries/serpentine belt question

G'day guys,
Im just thinking out loud here.

If I was to put an EL engine into my EB would I still be able to use my original ancillaries and belts set up that I currently have?

Or

Would I be able to run the serpentine belt setup using the standard EB manifold? How hard would this be to do? I think I have heard about clearance problems. I dont want to use the EL manifold.

Thanks guys
Dan

Re: E series ancillaries/serpentine belt question

You can use the original ancilliaries if you want, it's just a matter of un-bolting the EL stuff and bolting on the EB stuff in it's place. Everything lines up perfectly.

For the second question, yes you can use your EB manifold, but you'll need XH tensioners to clear the manifold because they ran the serpentine belt with a EA style manifold.

Speak to Rmyers for more info

Thanks sunny I just remembered you have already told me about the serpentine conversion and using the XH tensioners. I have a bad memory.

Im thinking about doing up an EL engine to put in over summer. It will give me something to do.

XH tensioner and belt.
Thanatos knows all about this stuff as he used it.

Re: E series ancillaries/serpentine belt question

Hey Dan..I'm running my EA belt setup on my engine which is an EF 4.0. I put an EB timing cover and balancer on it. And everything else bolted straight up like the 3.9 EA motor.

Dan if you do put the EF motor in and get rid of the Serpentine set up, let me know.

Re: E series ancillaries/serpentine belt question

you will also need the timing cover off your ED as they use different harmonic balancers and the timing marks are different on the covers.

Re: E series ancillaries/serpentine belt question

Cool, thanks for your help guys.
I wont start this project for a while. I need to do some basic mods to the car first. Lowering, clear indicators, tinted windows, put my stereo back in etc etc.

EASPRINT-How is your dizzy setup? Do you have the wolf controlling the EF coil pack?

Re: E series ancillaries/serpentine belt question

So where do you get XH tensioners from? Ford? Or search for ages at wreckers?

Re: E series ancillaries/serpentine belt question

Does this mean that Adrian Vella had to stuff around with XH tensioners to run the ED manifold on his EL?? I thought it was much simpler than that.
