Re: EB falcon horn

It is probably a faulty horn relay

Re: EB falcon horn

The foam padding on the horn pad has rotted away so the two metal plates are always in contact and the horn always goes off. This is a very common fault in Oz E series - foam does not last forever, particularly in Australian heat and sun. The past owners just unplugged the horn rather than fix it. You need to carefully leaver off the horn pad (blades of two kitchen knifes are fine) from the steering wheel noting that the horn pad is attached with two plastic hooked barbs and pushing them the wrong way will snap them off. Also unplug the wiring ( 3 spade terminals) noting which wires go where. Then just go to Clark rubber and for around $2 and buy a small sheet of thin (2mm to 3mm) grey cellular foam and replace it (glue it in with gelgrip or similar). The expensive fix is buying a new horn pad from Ford but the foam in the new one will also eventually disintergrate as well.

Re: EB falcon horn

PS and be greatful that you haven't got a later model with the same fault and an airbag equipped steering wheel.
