ed xr6 power spike

hi, hope someone can help me cause no one else can. driving at any time (doesn't happen alot) the battery light will come on dash lights will go extra bright, battery gauge will read past 16 volts and i have also had the head lights blow once when this happened. it'll stay at 16 volts for a 20seconds to 1 minute. one guy thought it was the battery terminal plates but that did nothing. any help would be much appreciated.

Re: ed xr6 power spike

I am no mechanic but maybe you could check the alternator. They can sometimes over charge and one symptom of an overcharging alternator is blown headlights.

Just one thing you could look at. Hope this helps.

Re: ed xr6 power spike

also another thing is the battery light. That doesn't tend to come on unless there is an alternator issue, or so I have been told by an auto electrician once before.
