EF fairmont ghia

Hey guys. Im new to this forum and would like to know if anyone can tell me if the EF fairmont ghia has the uprated XR6's engine and harder suspension? Im looking at upgrading from my xe efi s-pak wagon and like the sound of this package!

What do you think i should pay for this with around 200000km?

It wasn't until the series II upgrade that the EF Ghia came out with the XR6 engine.

With those kays, I'd say anything from 10-15 grand, depending on the condition and service history.

Make sure EVERYTHING works ie. climate control, power windows. I'd also want assurance that the auto trans was either rebuilt or replaced recently. Mine went at 220,000- not a cheap fix.

Get the V8. Trust me, you won't regret it!

I can't get enough of this!

WHy do you prefer the v8, its only a few more kw and suck 1/3 more petrol. Ive noticed that many seriesII ghias are cheaper than xr6's of the same year when they nearly are one with luxurious equipment.

Ive found a ghia 6 for $9000 who im ringing tonight, sounds a bit cheap! I want to pay up to $11000.

Why a V8?

If you have to ask, then you just don't understand! Ask any V8 owner, they will be happy to tell you.

kW? It's all about the TORQUE, son!

A V8 can be fairly economical if you drive sensibly. On long trips I get close to 700km out of a tank. I just figured if I was getting a Ghia, I wanted one with the lot.

Did I mention the IMMENSE satisfaction of turning the key each morning and Saturday night and hearing that deep rumble? :-)

If i came across a v8 at the right price i would go for it. I was just asking you guys why you like the v8's. The only reason i wouldnt be able to is if the misses found out it had eight cylinders under the bonnet. I dont think she would be impressed.
The sound of a v8 is well worth the little bit extra petrol any day.

The 8's dont use that much fuel.
I've got a V8 Ghia - and the last 2 tanks have got me over 500Kms per tank. I reckon for an 8, its damn good.
