Now I know I'm one of the more quiet members of this fine horseless carriage club, being in Tassie doesn't help for starters, but lately I've been giving some thought to my car and whether or not to spend more money on it and fix a lot of things and do it up more or just give up completely on it and get something nice like this
The above link is a picture of yes, an EL Fairmont Ghia for sale in Victoria I'm thinking of buying. It looks like the previous owner had some very nice taste and opted for clear repeaters, a full XR body kit and GT wing and it even has BA XR labelling on the side of the skirts, which made me wonder. Would I be buying another members previous ride?
Has anyone seen this car out and about before, cos I am giving serious consideration to purchasing it. It's only got 67,000k's which is another bonus.
Now normally I would consider ditching the EB, cos I love it to bits, but lately, more problems are occurring with it and I'm getting to the point where I can't see myself fixing everything and doing it up the way I want to.
Problems so far include
Diff noise, under carriage noise, front bar wombat damage, fading duco on passengers side due to shitty respray (previous owners fault), heavy stone chip damage on front grill and forward most bonnet part, exhaust knocking noise when idling, funny ticking noise in the engine on warm up, demister doesn't work, damage of some kind on almost every exterior panel and that's just the stuff I can think of off the top of my head.
Now like I said, I do love my car, and I've spent more on it than it's worth, but the big picture of where I want to go with the car and where it is currently is getting cloudy, so what I'm asking for is opinions here.
Should I give up on the EB and get something nicer like the above example or stick with it and finish what I've started? Any opinions or posts would be appreciated.
Regards,
Michael

The above car was discussed about on fordmods at some point recently. is that where you spotted it?
Its certainly a nice car and wouldn't leave much for yaself to finish off.
It in it self would be a Huge upgrade, but i spose it comes down to if you wanna get rid of the EB.
I'd personally say upgrade... if its starting to cause problems, then chances are there will be more.

this was a comment from someone who had seen the exact car you're looking at :)
"Yes mate, I had a real good look inside and it is like brand new.....The whole car is almost show quality. I went back and had another look at it today and when you see it in the flesh, I reckon most people would be mighty impressed by the condition of it. "

I think its worth it.
its safe to assume that since the exterior has had some work done to it, the engine and exhaust are probably not fully stock as well. I would spend 19k on it. buy the v8
Nice car the EL Fairmont Ghia ,i had one in Sparkling Burgundy V8 certainly was a great car, brings back memories had Sunroof ,rear spoiler GT wheels it just looked different and turned heads where ever it went.
Cheers John

If you can afford it, I'd deffinitely buy it! If you could get him down to around $17.5-18k, that wouldn't be too bad a price to pay for a nice stock 5L EL Ghia IMHO, let alone one that looks that nice!
