Just a quick question, is it against the power to weight ratio to drive an XR8 on my P's? I want to leave my options open for either a series 2, which is 185kw, or a series one (???kw's?).
Just a quick update as well, the skyline has become a bit of a fad, as insurance was going to completely do me over. I've always wanted a V8, but couldn't justify the costs in running it. Now that i have a second car, i may just have to consider it. Nothing like the rumble of a V8. This way, i can upgrade the car on dad's insurance policy, keep it under his name, and it shouldn't be that much more...
Im 99% sure you could drive an EL 1 XR8 but EL 2 XR8 may come a bit closer to the limit, but also remeber that S15 200sx and WRX's are also legal barely (something like 124.6kw/tonne), so theres a good chance you should be alright, just give VIcroads a ring and they'll check the list for you.
Also the XR8 will be less of a cop target, my friend recently sold his 97 R33 because it was just too annoying getting pulled over on average once every two weeks and defects for stupid stuff like washer bottle not full and car being too loud and low even though my XR6 is louder and lower than his (and its legal!) when we cruise together the cops always pull him over for a 'random breath test' your better off getting an import once your off P's, but good choice an EL2 XR8 look damn sexy and have the balls to back it up!
I dunno, it seems like the thing to do, it's an upgrade, lower kilometers, and will probably only cost me $5k more. Which is worth it for a V8 and 5 speed..
