Just got off the phone with dk... the dealer has once again ****ed up a fix and introduced yet more problems.

Each conversation with him makes me thankful I got a (relatively) trouble free XR6.... :\

Like I said to him... "You don't by the car, you buy the experience"

they replaced the ball joints (after the steering knock fix caused more noise), which in turn resulted in grinding noises from the front end.

Ok - long story short....
Clicking noise in steering, car has been back for 5th time on Monday to fix. Dealer finally applies TSB and fixes clicking, service manager takes car for a run discovers a new knocking noise from the front end. Keeps car overnight, and next day replaces ball joints. Got the car back on tuesday, all is seemingly ok. Yesterday driving the car on canterbury road, there is a loud knock in the floor followed by a constant rattling noise from the front end. What The???? limp the car to the dealer and expressed my "Dissapointment", upon quick inspection seems as if there is a problem with sway bar mounts, car is at the dealer currently still being "looked at" - I won't say its being fixed, as its becoming increasingly obvious that ford service departments are unable to FIX or repair a vehicle. They either F*&K it up or say that "they all do that"... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Lemon laws mean you can demand a replacement or if you really want your money back ..... dont they :0)

Australia doesnt have lemon laws AFAIK. The govt never got round to introducing them...

thanks Kappie, that made my day. Just what i want - from one mercury BA xr6 manual to another. don't know whether to laugh or cry... That new Subary Liberty GT is looking awefully good................

Update, got the car back... apparantly the sway bar mount had come adrift. In my opinion things don't simply come adrift unless they were not propery installed/reinstlled in the first place. My guess is that when they fixed the steering and ball joints someone forgot to tighten up the bolts.

I suggest getting under the car with a spanner and check every nut and bolt you can see :0)

From your signature you have aftermarket swaybars. But don't see that being a problem. Did the sway bars come adrift after the TSB was done on the steering rack? They disconnect the way bar to move the rack out to drill the holes so maybe you are right as in someone didnt tighten the swaybar mounts or something.
