confused Factory XD Fuel Tanks?

Was there any other fuel tank options available for XD Falcon sedans?
I've read that only the plastic 77 litre tank was on sedans.
After looking at mine, its not a plastic one.

Any help?

Cheers.

Re: Factory XD Fuel Tanks?

Yes indeed the XD was the 1st Australian built sedan to carry a plastic fuel tank(was pushed as a safety feature at the time.) This raised some interesting questions with regards to exhaust system routing at the time(heat shielding, will a twin system fit etc)
There were however noticably larger (120l)tanks fitted optionally to some of the police pack esp's (NSW) fitted with 5.8's.

Re: Factory XD Fuel Tanks?

Were the 120L tanks plastic tho?
Maybe larger tanks were optional on V8 models?
Who knows?

Re: Factory XD Fuel Tanks?

have you yourself actually looked at the tank to make sure its metal or are you just going on what the mechanic said?

Re: Factory XD Fuel Tanks?

In the XR I know of 2 options for the sedan one was about 60L which was on Carby I6's and another of about 80L which was on V8's and Efi's. Wagons didnt have the Plastic Fuel tanks until AU but Sedans certainly had Plastic tanks from XD.
