The problem is the offset of the hemisphere used for the 2.77 gearset. You can get a centre from an XR6 (for example) which have a diferent hemisphere, or maybe you should search the forum. From memory I think something else fits; maybe Nissan gears.....???
very last question....did all automatic (84-87 xf falcons/xf fairmont and ghia's/zl fairlane's./ltd all have a 2.77 diff ratio ? which ones in this time period have 2.92 ratio?
and would i be right to presume that fairlanes84 -87 had a 2.92 ratio or is this wrong?
or alternativly would i be better of getting a EA BTR diff plus shaft so i can get the 3.9.1 ratio to put in relacement of the crappy 2.77 i have now...?
they came with eithier 2.77 or 2.92 in lsd
and 2.77. 2.92 or 3.23 in open centre.
theres no hard and fast rule to which had what best to just look at tag on back of diff.
does yours currently have disc brakes on the rear? when you put fairlane diff in it will have and if your doesn't then you have to modify handbrake.
but basically yes a fairlane diff will slot straight in they are the same externally.
why do you want 3.9 gears just out of interest?
