I hear lots of different stories about the lifespan of an AU and also the BA Falcons. From experience (considering the BA has only been around for a few years) how many KMs do you think that the average person will get from a AU or a BA before it packs it in ? I know that lots of cabbies have gotten over 500,000kms from the AUs so it's not unreasonable to assume the BAs will likely get similar.. but what about us average people out there ?
1000
ps. have the AUs been blowing head gaskets like the EF/EL series did at low kms ?
Theres no reason why any car cant last forever with the right owners. Just depends on how the car is treated and maintained.

An EB taxi got to over 1 million kilometeres without ever having the engine opened up!
I know an EF that has over 600,000km's and still going strong.
My parents EB Fairmont has almost 300,000 and never had to do anything to the engine yet.
I don't know about the BA's, but the AU's will last a long time too!

The AU's apparently used a different (steel?) head gasket which fixed the problem that occurred with previous model falcons blowing gaskets.

My Dad was a Taxi driver and he used to drive an EA that had done 2,000,000kms in the early 90's.
That's amazing. Assuming an average speed of 60km/hr, that car has spent 3.8 years of straight 24 hour days driving non-stop to achieve that, in the early 90's.
