HI all,
I have a EL that has approx 170'000 K's on the clock and things are starting to go wrong with her at regular intervals. just today I was driving along when I had a loss of power from the engine. The car drives along at approx 60 -70 kmh but when you put your foot down to accelerate she just does not respond...any of you guys got any idea what it may be??

also don't know if this is related but a week and a half ago I accelerated pretty hard and there was a puff of brown smoke from the exhaust. after this happened the exhaust rattles a little when you rev the car and also when she idles.....love the car, but it's starting to get on my tits with all that is going wrong

does the loss of power happen every time at that range and under the same circumstances or is it intermitant?

yeah, sounds like the catalytic converter is cactus. it's got clogged pipes. bit like me.

Hi Guys,
sorry it took so long to reply....thanks for your help, and yes the cat was battered. not only that but when it blew it really blew....chunks of the cat went back into the exhaust and clogged up the whole system. so I had to replace the cat and the exhaust.....$488.00 bucks later and I'm back in business
