I believe if they use it, it will be to replace the Sable (Falcon) and the Grand Marqui/Maurader (Fairlane)....I am not sure of the numbers but they probably fit into Ford Aus production schedule (I think they sell less of these models than Ford Aus sell of the Falcon/Fairlane.

Ford have the 500 in the pipeline and also a replacement for the Taurus based on the Mazda6...Where would the Falcon fit? Also, Mercury are looking to differentiate itself from the Ford line up.

The sable is one of the most ugly cars I saw in the US. I wonder if they export the falcon wagon and call it a sable, if they will option it up with the woodgrain up the side of the car.

Maybe someone should go to a ford type forum in the US and post up some pictures of the Falcon and see what kind of reponse it gets.

I wonder if the GT will cop a "RICE" tag as some posted towards the GTO

I've looked into Yank opinions on the Falcons lately and nearly every responce has been "damn it why don't they sell it here"
They simply don't have ballzy rwd sedans over there and they want them.

There are a lot of people that loved the old 60's falcon and want them back.

It was the falcon was previously sold in the US.. as were the fairlane.

Hence if it was to reemerge into the US market I would guess it would carry these names once again.

Don't think Ford oz can fill any us orders.. look at holden, they are really going to struggle to make 18,000 monaros for the US market, and California wants everyone of those.

Given that Ford oz has substancial waiting lists in australia, at best they would be a trickel.. What they should do is make them over there. In the end that is what it comes down too. Let Ford OZ design, etc totally free reign, Ford US just manufacturers LHD versions. That way you could fill US and EU demand.

Holden is going to end up having to do this if they want more than ~30,000 us exports.
