Re: Falcon the only true Aussie V8?
The way i see it, the Falcon and GT use parts imported from america, but are assembled by ford Australia and FPV, by hand. Holden and HSV simply buy crate motors from where ever they can, slap on a few holden and HSV badges and say its an aussie engine, and people believe it!. I reckon thats the exact reason why Ford and FPV are busy refining their models, (gearbox, road noise, etc.) because Holden and HSV can just grab a corvette engine and dump it in a recycled VT chassis, i remember an article in wheels (or motor) investigating the possibility of a 373Kw GTS using a LS7 corvette motor!, HSV said that the only reason they wouldnt pursue it was the VT chassis is too old and wouldnt be able to handle the power and torque.
