Just out of interest, who knows what things the Fairmont had that the falcon gli didn't?
I ask, because I've got an ED falcon, and since all the wiring is the same for the falcon and the fairmont. I thought, heck why not add the stuff in that I want that I don't even have to worry about wiring up.
So, I'm guessing that the fairmont had a clock, a power antennae, a remote fuel flap release and a rear wiper? cruise control?
ED Fairmont added even more than that, mate. Electric windows, climate control, velour interior, full instruments, alloy wheels, trip computer, map lights, ABS and so forth.
My recommendation would be putting in the features that are important to you.

Climate control. I think cruise is just an option, available with GLi as well.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen. It said, 'Parking Fine.'So that was nice.
I think all models bar the GLi had similar dials to the EA Falcon S. Just 2 analogue speedo/tacho dials flanked by temp, oil pressure, etc. The Fairlane/LTD had the digital dash.
I believe the Fairmont first got climate control with the EB series.

i have an edxr6 that i am currently putting faimont gear into. with all the research i have done on this i have found the following. the eb II and ed fairmonts and faimont ghia's had the same instruments. i mean they both had climate control, trip computer, abs, power windows, power mirrors, power antenna, key lock illumination, cruise control, map lights, foot well lights. the only differance i can pick between the 2 cars is that a fairmont had velour panels with a cloth seat and the ghia had a full velour interior or leather one. apart from that they share the same bcm module and parts. obviously the badging was different and the rear number plate surround.
Thanks for the welcome for starters I happen to be researching this matter myself because I am working on a book about local cars. Thanks to Sundeep's help, I have written a full history about the EA II-ED models for my web page as a bonus.
How's your book going jack. I hope the biggest part of your book is on the EA, Ohh yeah do a write up on the EDXR6 pal :) .
So good luck, whens it going to be out?
