Discovered a hole in my timing chain cover last night, not the happy surprise i was looking for. Getting towed to mechanics today to inspect the damage. The hip pocket is gonna feel this one. And just after i got my new cam too

Just go and get a timing cover from the wreakers. Don't know what ford wants for one new, but they wanted over $600 for my V8 one, but V8 parts are expensive!!!!

You will need to drop the sump down if you change the timing case. Its a time consuming/frustrating job, but not very hard, and the replacement cover will be dirt cheap S/H. From memory, the gasket kit for the timing case is about $30.

Might be worth taking a look at it your self, if you have the time.

How do you get a hole in your timing cover? Did something break and hit it?

problem is i don't have the time. If i don't have a car, i don't get to work, and if i can't get to work, then i can't afford to fix it. Anyway, it seems to be the general consesus that the guys that installed my cam had something to do with it as it happened roughly 24 hours after i got it back from them. And if i walk in there and tell them they stuffed upo they are gonna tell me tp prove it which i can't.
