I just thought I would share something from my day today.....at about 4:00pm today, I put my signature at the bottom of a 'Contract for the Purchase of a New Vehicle' at my local Ford dealership.
The 'vehicle' in question happens to be an XR6 in the stylishly popular (although some would say common) Blueprint. To enhance the already magnificent vehicle, I decided on a few extras to make the driving experience all the more pleasurable.
So, starting with the exterior, the windows will be darkened just enough to allow a nose-picker like myself to freely cruise the streets without embarrassment. The wheels will be somewhere between 17" and 19". Oops....having checked the paperwork, they will in fact be 18".
As we step over the beautifully crafted XR scuff plates and rest the feet on the lush pile of the XR floor mats, a quick glance at the tissue holder and say "thank God they supplied those....", as we all know, the sports leather seats will simply reject any sneaky attempts to wipe any nasal particles one gathers while sitting at the lights behind those darkened windows.
Quick scan around the cabin....'damn, looks like a Fairmont Ghia!". Yes, of course it does.....with the Premium Audio, dual zone climate control, the (clean) sports leather seats, rear power windows, traction control, auto on/off headlights (hey...I'm sure they might be useful) and even that dinky little analogue clock on the dash. I'm loving it already!
There are two great certainties with this car....I'll always know where I am and I'll always know what the weather is like there.
With the factory fitted DVD satellite navigation, I'll never get lost again (yeah right!) and I'll only have to throw a fleeting glance upwards to know if the Melbourne rain is so close that I'll have to slide closed the factory fitted, dealer tinted sunroof.
As if that wasn't enough to tease a fat out of a concrete monk, the nice man at the dealership agreed to throw in the Auxillary Audio Plug-in. I just stopped short of taking his Ford pen as well.
......Jesus Christ, I only intended to drop a quick note to let a few people know that after a few weeks of fantastic advice and feedback from the knowledgeable and hospitable people on the forum that I finally ordered the XR6.
As I began to think about the car, I fell into a sort of a trance and I k i n d o f s t a r t e d w a f f l i n g......................
Sorry, there I go again.....anyway, today I ordered the following:
XR6 Sedan Automatic, Blueprint, XR Luxury Pack with Premium Audio, Sports Leather Seats, Dual Zone Climate Control, Auto on/off headlights. Also DVD Satellite Navigation, Sunroof, 18" alloys, Tinted Windows, XR Carpet Mats, XR Scuff Plates, Auxillary Audio Plug-in (...and almost the salesmans Ford pen).
Big thanks to everyone who was kind enough to share either their knowledge or experiences over the last few weeks and helped in making what I know will be an awesome decision....good on ya!
