I've got to install a fire extinguisher in my BA XR8 for CAMS race events. Has anyone put one into a BA and if so where abouts ? Most poeple seem to put them in passenger inner footwell wall.
Thanks

Mate, you can get them with mounts to bolt on under the front seat mounting bolts so that they sit flush underneath the front of the passenger seat. A few people are able to get them, try sending a pm to either wulos or tickford2001.
Mine is installed under the drivers seat - it's a tight fit using a standard CAMs approved bracket but there is clearance for the seat.
You will find in most event supplementary regs a requirement that the extinguisher be within reach of the driver while seated in a normal belted position. I've seen scrutineers knock back cars with them mounted on the passengers side and I would be inclined to do the same.
I note in the 2004 MoMS that this requirement has been dropped but I still see it is used in a lot of Supp Regs.
I'm 6'6" tall. I could reach a fire extinguisher mounted under the passenger seat in a normal seated position :). Russ, I currently don;t have the Cams manual, the only requirements I was aware of are :
- At least .9 Kg
- Metal bracket
I've purchased a fire extinguisher that meets those requriements, what else is there ?
Thanks guys, I wasn't aware of a Ford option for extinguishers. Funny though, I've got brochures on options from about 6 months ago and they don't list it at all.

I had to get a new one today as my old one is out of date for cams Events.
Cost me $29 from Big W, its a Quell/Chubb 1kg, with a good metal bracet.
Attached are pic's of 1 I made myself.
25mm by 3mm flat aluminium, cut and bent to suite shape of floor pan, pop rivet together, paint colour to suite.
Remove seat bolt covers ,they are spring loaded.
Remove bolts with a T50 star lever.
Drill holes in ally to suite bolt diameter.
Fit Extinguisher bracket cut screws off flush with back of bracket and file down, Clip covers back. done.
