Fire Extinguisher

I've got to install a fire extinguisher in my BA XR8 for CAMS race events. Has anyone put one into a BA and if so where abouts ? Most poeple seem to put them in passenger inner footwell wall.

Thanks

Re: Fire Extinguisher

Mate, you can get them with mounts to bolt on under the front seat mounting bolts so that they sit flush underneath the front of the passenger seat. A few people are able to get them, try sending a pm to either wulos or tickford2001.

Cheers,
Brad

Re: Fire Extinguisher

The fire extinguisher is an option on the XR's, so why not get a factory one?

Re: Fire Extinguisher

I ticked the box and it is not noticeable unless the passanger has the seat all the way back plus it is real easy to get out an in if you need to.

Question Re: Fire Extinguisher

So are both sizes available from the factory installed in the same manner, under the passengers seat? What about utes?

Re: Fire Extinguisher

Mine is installed under the drivers seat - it's a tight fit using a standard CAMs approved bracket but there is clearance for the seat.
You will find in most event supplementary regs a requirement that the extinguisher be within reach of the driver while seated in a normal belted position. I've seen scrutineers knock back cars with them mounted on the passengers side and I would be inclined to do the same.

I note in the 2004 MoMS that this requirement has been dropped but I still see it is used in a lot of Supp Regs.

Cheers
Russ

Re: Fire Extinguisher

Russ

I'm 6'6" tall. I could reach a fire extinguisher mounted under the passenger seat in a normal seated position :). Russ, I currently don;t have the Cams manual, the only requirements I was aware of are :

- At least .9 Kg
- Metal bracket

I've purchased a fire extinguisher that meets those requriements, what else is there ?

Thanks guys, I wasn't aware of a Ford option for extinguishers. Funny though, I've got brochures on options from about 6 months ago and they don't list it at all.

Re: Fire Extinguisher

Mine is mounted in front of the drivers seat aswell, i cant reach it in the passanger side.
I had to get a new one today as my old one is out of date for cams Events.
Cost me $29 from Big W, its a Quell/Chubb 1kg, with a good metal bracet.
