Anyone know of any companies fitting gas to non-gas fitted (of course) Falcons?
Any concerns fitting gas to a petrol 6 cylinder BA Falcon?

There are companies around that do fit LPG to BA's but look for one that offers a warranty for the damage it will do to parts like the throttle body and cylinder head.Because the manufacturers warranty wont.

Also, ask about the effect of traction control (if fitted) as this can be a prob for LPG cars.

Traction control is normally only on vehicles optioned with it(XR's & Prestige vehicles)If anybody fitted LPG to them they need beating with a big stick.

Why? LPG has a higher octane rating than petrol. With the right set-up, you can get more power from LPG than ULP! LPG on an XR6 could therefore be a power boost.

I think you misunderstood my point, if you already own a Futura wagon with Traction control optioned (as my own car is) and I then decided to fit LPG say in one months time, I would have to make sure the LPG system was able to automatically disable traction control (TC) when running on gas, as the engine timing alters whenever TC activates. This feature is not a desirable situation with LPG tuned cars. If I remember correctly past AU duel fuel Fairlaines used as hire cars had TC turned off when switched to LPG.

If you want LPG on your BA buy a dedicated LPG one.The engine is DESIGNED and MANUFACTURED specificaly for LPG.The Non LPG engine is NOT made to run efficiently or economically as a duel fuel unit.(So do you think they pound this info into us)

Here we go again,will someone tell me why the BA can not be duel fuel as I am sick of the same stuff all the time that the BA petrol motor is not designed for gas and nobody is prepared to say why.Ford also stated that you could not run LPG on XR Falcons or any Ford fitted with VCT or Traction Control.Total crap.Heaps of XR's on LPG and with Traction Control it is just disengaged on LPG.I can not see any reason why the BA can not be duel fuel and Parnell,Fords authorised warrenty agent for LPG is fitting LPG to BA Falcons

is the ba fairlane going to have straight gas option??

i think it would be a good idea for hire car operators etc.

no straight gas on fairlane AU's meant less sales imo

The BA dedicated LPG engine has been specifically modified in areas where issues were found during development in order to make it robust and durable, specifically
- harder valves and valve seats to prevent valve recession (these are not fitted to the petrol engine)
- intake air box and air filter changes to prevent/minimise damage in the unlikely case of a backfire
- domed pistons and stronger con-rods to increase the compression ratio and prevent damage from a backfire

Aftermarket conversions do not do the internal modifications to the engines. Of course you could fit LPG, but you are risking damage to your engine. If someone fits an aftermarket LPG system to their BA they are voiding their warranty on the engine.

Parnell, and perhaps others, do offer a warranty to cover damage to the head and valves etc, but from our testing there is much more damage that can be done to the rest of the engine that is not covered by the warranty.
