You will probably find that someone has put the chasis number down as the engine number. On all falcons except for XR8/GT, the engine number is the same as the chasis. On the XR8 it is very hard to read as it is located under the altinator. The person who registered your car at the dealership may have gotten lazy and forgot that the XR8 number is different.
Your engine No. should start with FPV......

Have they explained to you why they want to buy it back from you?
Your engine number & chassis number should be the same.. excluding the 6 digit prefix on the chassis number.
Do your chassis & engine number match?
If not, you should decode them, and see where the difference is.
