Re: FPV Reverse Sensors - Fit XR ??
I am in the process of fitting sensors to my GT, so am familiar with all the parts required. The sensors themselves are the same part as the ones fitted to lesser-spec Falcons, it's only the retainer that is different.
The standard Falcon/Fairmont retainers fit through the rear bumper from the outside, and have a cage that clips around them (inside the bumper) to retain them, then the sensor just clips into the whole assembly.'
On the GT/GT-P setup, the retainer fits through the bumper from the inside, with 4 special little grooves moulded on the inside face of the bumper to allow correct orientation and angle - one groove on each side of the hole, and two at the top. These are in a thickened area (like a pad) on the inside of the bumper. This could be your problem, as the standard Falcon bumpers aren't as thick in this area - you may have to try and build up a pad on the inside of your bumper first. Have a look at the inside of a GT rear bumper (obviously one that hasn't got sensors), and you will see what I am talking about.
Anyhow, the retainer is held onto the bumper by a flat retainer with double-sided tape. Then the sensor clips into this assembly.
If I can, I'll try to get a couple of piccies for you, if you want to see what the GT parts look like, but they are quite clear to see in the parts catalog at your Ford dealer.
