hi guys just asking a basic qus
i have the XR6 and when i turn on the lights the fog light switch lights up but the other 2 on the other side ( the boot and fuel ) do not just seems a bit odd
any of u guys have that and would it be easy to make them light up

I have been meaning to place a post on the same thing!
I thought they would keep it equal having both light up on each side but then I guess they figure that you will be getting out of your car into a well lit area to fill up your beast with fuel anyway?

The fuel flap release on Territory lights up, so I think it may be a BAII release then you could retro fit to your car.

Isn't it logical that the Boot and Fuel filler would not be required during night driving so they would be left unlit?

However for my theory to be correct the body computer should illuminate these switches when in Park with parking lamps lit. There's another little routine for someone at Fords electronics division to code in.

I think you'll find this is the logic used to justify the cost compromise of not illuminating these switches!

My thinking is that the TC and fog light buttons would be used DURING driving, including at night. Hence the need for them to be lit. Then the boot release and the petrol cap release would never be used while driving (at night or otherwise). If you only use those switches when you are stationery then you wouldnt need them illuminated. If you get petrol, you are likely at a petrol station which is lit at night and you can see it. And with the boot release, generally when you turn off the ignition, the interior lights come on, so you have enough illumination to see the switch.... Unless you are driving along at night and have some desire to open the fuel cap or release the boot while in motion, you shouldnt need them lit.

However, there may be circumstances that may require someone to need them lit at night but the odds of that are not high, so I guess they figured it was not worthwhile...

I dunno, this is just what I think....

As for changing that, I dont think it would be easy - I dont think the symbols on the switches are opaque, so even if you could get a light behind them, they may not light up - would probably have to get own or make own switches.....
