Re: Fuel consumption

hehe sorry.

I'd estimate a real-world average of 16 or 17 litres - more like 11 or 12 on the highway. I can't think of any magazines with figures in my collection from memory.

Re: Fuel consumption

My ea ghia trip computer shows 12L/100km on average.
On the highway it shows 7-8L/100km.

When I'm giving it heaps, It can show upto 50L/100km.

Re: Fuel consumption

I think the Gregory's manual quotes about 10-12L / 100k for the city cycle (auto) and about 7-9 for the highway.

In reality my cfi auto probably does 15-17L / 100K driving with a heavy foot. Maybe a bit less taking it easy. Though I'm getting better. What was a $70 p/w fuel bill only a month ago is down to $50. This is achieved through a lighter right foot, and not driving the car when I don't have to.

Ash.

Re: Fuel consumption

Sometimes I'm glad my car has a tiny engine. I can drive like a maniac and still get under 10L/100km. Of course, it takes me a lot longer to complete those hundred kilometres, but thems the breaks.

Re: Fuel consumption

Swerve is right about smaller cars having no fuel consumption problems. The secret to getting good fuel consumption on a larger car is to utilise torque and avoid revving the engine, but with the 3 speed you can't do much really.

Just remember this golden rule:
Drive it as mild as you can make it;
Drive it as wild as you can take it!
