Fuel economy for a Falcon 6

Hey guys. Just wondering what your fuel economy figures are like for your falcons. I have an el, run it on regular and get around 400km to a tank with both city/freeway driving.

EL Futura.... Tickford intake, slotted rotors, pedders lowered, kenwood stereo. IN PROCESS leather xr s/wheel, clear indicators, EL GT rims (copy), pod + 2.5 Cat back

best way to work it out is how many litres it takes when you fill up completely to the 400 kays, for 400 kays mine uses 50 litres which i'm dissapointed in as the EB XR6 i had used to get 10.5 litres per 100km or for 400km 42litres of fuel, both auto and both running premium unleaded.
haven't tried economy on LPG yet but i'm hoping its better than my old 250 crossflow by a considerable amount

I'm not sure on actual litres used as such, but I got from Canberra to Faulkner in Melbourne on 3/4 of a tank in my AUII S.

Re: Fuel economy for a Falcon 6

We currently have 2 BA I6's....the 5 speed gets between 9 - 10.5 litres/100kays on the open road and gets between 11 - 13.5 with purely town driving (occasional squirts)

The auto, as a rule, can go a little lower on the open road... but can also be a bit higher around town. Overall not much difference though.

My EL fairmont ghia i6 gets 14.4L/100km on Mobil 2000. Thats with mainly suburban driving with pretty average sort of driving.

Re: Fuel economy for a Falcon 6

i have a 5 speed AUII i6 and it's drinking up 12-13L/100km mainly around town. i haven't tested it purely on the open road yet. It previously did 10-12L/100km mainly around town but then i replaced the platinum tip plugs with standard plugs and it got bad :(

i think i started driving it a bit harder too though.

Re: Fuel economy for a Falcon 6

my wifes EL ghia averaged 9.8l/100k on the trip back from the nats the other day. it gets an average of 8.6 at 120kph with the cruse on( checked over 150km of freeway driving)
prety good for how comfortable it is, with climate control on etc...

sorry, forgot to say that was ordinary shell unleaded.
i want to re check it with optimax or similar cause my XR8 seems to get a little better mileage with optimax.

Re: Fuel economy for a Falcon 6

I have an EL XR6 5 speed. Around town I get 13-14 L/100, and on the open road 10.0 to 10.3 L/100. Not unhappy at all with that.

A while ago when PULP was only 6c/litr more than ULP, I carried out two separate studies to determine if it was worth using the more expensive PULP. I put 2 tanks of PULP through beforehand to allow the comp. to remap any parameters. In both city and country driving I found there was negligible difference in economy or performance, save for a little more low down torque around town. There was certainly not enough difference to to justify using PULP at today's prices, which are 10c/litre more than ULP. Save your money!! And why would I use PULP with 132kW at the back wheels bog standard, apart from a 2.5" ex system?
