g'day, just found this forum and it looks good
any way, i have a 1970 xy ford fairmont 302 windsor v8
which has been in the family since new, now i love drivingher

but with the price of petrol going up n up, im thinking of gas conversions,
has any one done this on there v8's? any loss power ?
or is there a better alternative?

also i want to repaint her , not a full strip repaint, just an outside repaint
she is very straight, very little if any body work needed.
what would it cost?

if your gonna muck aroudn with gas at home you better know what your doing!!
i did a home gas coversion and the only thing you will be unable to do yourself is prep the head with hardened seats.

if you are not confident and do not know lpg very well i advise to not muck around with it and get an expert.

i still find lpg to be a little cheap than fuel in the long run but to get the advantage of the hight octane level in gas you cannot run dual fuel.

paint work i have no idea on

i say with a nice classic car like that, get a xd or xe for a grand, with rego and the lot, might be a shit heap, but at least ur not chopping, and puttin gas on a good car... use this on weekends, will also give u time to fix it all up.....

you dont save HEAPS with gas, remember, you use more gas than you do petrol,

Tonight at the same servo. Premium ULP 113.9 CPL, LPG 38.9 CPL You ARE going to save heaps! Bear in mind that it has to be fitted by a licensed intaller and Workcover certificated. Also the tank had to be re stamped every 10 years at around $200 a go, and there is an extra fee on your rego inspection (add around $10) each year. Sure you lose a bit of power. I used to get similar acceleration with my 351 as my Dads 6 Cylinder EF Fairmont to give you some idea. But if you do 30,000km plus a year you're laughing. There is a complete system for dale on E Bay from an XC sedan, actually its from my XC sedan, happy bidding!!
