Do you know a friend of a friend that works there?
Just in the right place at the right time?
Pull the items off the cars yourself?
Use mind control on the salesmen?
I use the Yuri Mind control on the dude at the wreckers! lol (Nerd joke)
Naa just some places you have to be there at the right time and also if you are able to get a good repore with the owner of the place by returning again and again to buy bits, you find some places will treat you better.

Fit parts in other parts.. :)
I have found a few workers don't have a clue what some parts are so you just don't tell them.
centre console was supposed to be $27.50..
yesterday i got that, air con/ trip computer surround, 4 door rubbers, 4 inner door handles, 4 door lock clips & a glove box front.
Went to pay and said I've got a centre console and some other plastic and rubber bits. he just said. Ah $27.50...
deal.
Another FF user (pazza) got a lip spoiler for $11 cos they had no idea what it was.
