Recently I tried trading-in my Ford AUII Falcon (built July 2000). Its in emaculate condition, and has only done 46,000km. It also has cruise control, spoiler, carpet mats, and metallic paint (Moonsoon Blue).

The bloody dealer offered me $16000 for a trade in on a new BA Futura.

Is this a reasonable offer ? (I've seen equivalents in dealerships, with less options, for $23k)

Does anyone know any good Ford dealers in Melbourne willing to give a good deal (discount) on a new BA ? - they all seem to be tight-arses at the moment ...

G'day James.I would say your trade in price is pretty close to the mark.Try the red book on line and you will see where they get their prices from.My sister just bought a 2000 Futura on factory gas with 16 " alloys,64000klms from Gorrell's for $17000.New cars are cheap and so trade in values have come down.
I got a great deal at Rex Gorrell in Geelong.I picked it up yesterday.BA XR8 venom red,leather and manual for $48 000 on the road !
I tried City Ford,Westpoint (Hopper's Crossing)Colac and Ballarat and none could even go close to that.
Couldn't be happier.The car seems to be perfect atm.

I'd think you would be able to get a slightly better deal. I traded my early 2000 AUII Falcon 'S' with 90,000k on the clock. It was in great condition and i got $20k for it. The new XR6 was $40k driveaway with 18" wheels, not bad for a $20k changeover.
