Now that all the bolt ons are finished I'm taking the GT for a run over to Melb in mid May, while I'm there I want to visit the FPV factory and also have APS fit a UNICHIP. I had a unichip fitted to my BA Turbo over here in WA and it was a bit of a disaster because the tuning of these chips is specialist and critical, I now don't believe that there is much mechanical expertise in this state, so this time instead of inconvenience and sleepless nights I thought I'd let the masters in Vic fit it. If anyone has had one fitted to their GT, any feedback on what to expect would be much appreciated.

greetings Doc
if i was you i would be waiting for what Barry @ BPT comes up with in regards to the re-flasher that he is working on before i looked at any piggy back processors
give Barry a call as it may be closer than you think & it will all be generated from your home state, save you the travelling if ever you needed to alter anything as you even said yourself that yu had problems with you old Unichip
regards

Cheers Rod.
Called Barry yesterday but got message bank. I have to come over to Melb anyway and I think a UNICHIP installed there would be done properly. Still if Barry can beat them to it, I must say I like the idea of an extra 750 rpm before the rev limiter cuts in.
Looking forward to sstreaking across the Nullabor

No good only going halfway, I just realised what The Pub was and had a look, very interesting. How does the EXCEDE perform, anybody tried it?

the extra revs would be great but i belive that there will be better options from the "FLASHER" than what is availiable from any of the chip's on the market at the moment & the abilliaty to increase the rev limit will just be an extra BONUS
have a look at all of the piggybacks if you choose to go that way as i have had a fair look at several of them & if i was to go that way i belive that the X-ede would be the one that i would most likly use but i am waiting on the "FLASHER"

I dont know about the extra revs you guys are chasing, but its my understanding that they are at there maximum safe reving now, any more and they go bang. Its because of the bore and the stroke of the conrods, im no exbert here, but can anyone else help out here.

GONE FOR GOOD
Chips are good for the object of altering and improving fuel mapping across the rev range. Cars with stock tune usually run rich so that there is less chance of engine wear and will last longer. Chips alter this and lean it off at various points which improves burning and results in more power.
The chips so far, only perform this function. They will improve driveability, and maybe not so much on a dragsrtip but more so on a circuit track. They will not alter rev limits, auto shift points, base idle or allow for diff or speedo changes due to gearing and tyre changes. I believe the chips i've heard of so far mostly improve the bottom end of the 5.4's
Thats why LS1Edit has become so popular with the Holden guys, it can alter everything on the original ECU. Till there is something available to us Ford drivers, we're stuck with fuel mapping changes unless the chips allow more changes (which is being worked on), or the flasher unit Barry is working on allows it also
