The car last week ticked over 10,000 kays which meant that it needed to be returned to Herrods for its UniChip Tuneup remap. I took the car for a quick fang just to see how the car was performing before dropping the car off this morning to Herrods
When the phone rang at around 3 to say 'come pick up car' that was the starting point of a whole new level of excitement which only a finely tuned Herrod GTP could supply.
When I got there, Rob had the car on the Dyno ready for me to take photos and recordings of audio.
The pics are attached, the audio is coming soon.
After we did a couple of runs, Rob ripped off the Dyno printout and looked at me with a big smile on his face which read 'your gonna have fun with this cam'
I asked Rob if he had taken it for a thrash yet? His reply was 'That’s your job!! . . . It should go alright though'
So off the Dyno it rolled and onto the street. First impression was, mmmmmmm the throttle is a bit more twitchy, nice.
then getting to a nice stretch on the road and then it was WOOOOOOOOHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I have never seen a car be transformed from a 'fast car' into a 'really fast car' by a tune-up.
There is one word which describes the car in its current state . . . . . 'AAAWWWWWEEEESSSOOOOOME'
If anyone of you have had the pleasure of going for a spin in my car, THAT WAS NOTHING!!!! Forget what you may have seen . . You should see it now.
You get the massive push in the seat and the revs come up so fast and quick now, I really have to watch the gear change because the redline comes up very quickly now. LOTS of wheel spin in first gear, even when the car is doing 50 kays!!! Not bad for an auto.
Conclusion:
BRING IT ON!!!!
The next Friday night Calder Park Drags I WILL BE THERE and trust me, I will bring IT!!!!
Its HAMMER time and this Herrod GTP is hitting harder than ever.
I have to go now, I need to re-drive all my favorite bits of the road with the newly mapped computer and a full tank of petrol.
Rob, your a wizzard, especially when it comes to tweakin the GTP!!!!
----------------------------------------------------
RESULTS (Rear wheels, Auto GTP):
After Rob tune-up 308.6HP
or 230.1kw
----------------------------------------------------
Herrod mods: Uni-chip, full Zorst, Air-intake, Lowered springs.

I fitted a unichip(not herrod one) to my GT-P on friday with only Headers and high flow cats, it had also 201kw before but did 238kw after the Unichip was installed. It feels like it dropped a little torque in the low to mid range under full throttle but is very thottle happy under normal driving.Once you nail the throttle it absolutely RIPS through the rev range very very quick. Also the the fuel economy is much better as well.
Mine made 233kW at rears after just a air intake and underdrive pulleys.
That was in shootout mode recording as well which was 10kW down from another dyno I had it the day before.
If thats all the Herrods system does, screw that.
Was thinking of a Herrod exhaust but was shown some dyno figures that showed losses in some parts of the curve.
Will let you guys know waht a set of cams does to this baby when I fit them.

I think some people are unaware that Rob's dyno is set very conservatively on average. Where most cars would get for example 200rwkw on another dyno, on Robs dyno they would achieve around 185rwkw or their abouts. To get 230 rwkw on Robs dyno is pretty impressive, well done Cam!
If Rob's around, can you confirm this?
In regards to power gains it not just about achieving a high figure, it’s where and how you achieve those gains that determines the best improvement in performance.
