Hey all, i wanted to put air conditioning into my xc ute. I wondered though, do i need to change my heater box.

Totally different. And different holes through the firewall (two up top right side for the air con gas in and out if I remember rightly. And an extra mounting bolt).

So i am guessing that they are a pretty big job to change?

REasonably. If you can get the whole lot out of another car( including all the piping for the dash etc) you will see how it goes together. Where the 'new' holes in the firewall are required you will see it is indented or raised in little cirlces (if you look at the firewall you will inderstand that one). You will also need the vacuum lines etc to make it work, and tap in somewhere in the manifold. If you are determined and careful, and pull the unit out of another car to see how it goes together, it is possible. I did it on my old coupe. It caused a lot of swearing etc but I got it in there eventually.
