ive not long ago bought my self a 91 falcon gl with the 4 speed auto. Is there any reason why the hell it uses so much fuel ? ,my EFI xf ghia was cheaper to run.Is it just this model of ea falcon or something else,and yes ive replaced all the filters ,sparkys,ect ect. Any input will be gratefull. thanx

G'day mate, I once had really bad fuel economy and it was because the car was running rich. To test this, idle the car and in neutral, give short, sharp revs of the engine. Have someone observe for black smoke from behind.

If it is running rich, you'll need to check your thermostat, oxygen sensor and perhaps other items. The problem is certainly not normal or acceptable.

thanx heaps ill try that.With my fuel consumption im averaging about $20= 70kms now i think thats heavey, and one more question wat does the power/econ switch do ive notice no difference in the power side of things?

The power/econ switch effects the revs at which the transmission changes gear. It only increases power by making the engine rev closer to the peak power rpm.

One other point, if your car takes ages to warm up, you can get it's the thermostat. For about $25 you can get a new and genuine one from Ford. I tried a few types and the genuine is the only way to go.

thats the central controler and its Black.
