Hiclone

Just out of curiosity does anybody have a hiclone on the BA XR8 (BA XR 8 only please. please don't reply if it is on any other vehicle). If so do they work as the manufacture claims improved power & economy.

It is a fan shaped metal piece which sits in the intake piping. The only thing they will actually do on an EFI falcon is make your wallet $160 lighter. Just think about their claims of 10-15% better fuel economy, less emissions and more power. Ford would spend millions of dollars trying to get the same results by developing new parts, retuning EEC's etc. If it worked, every car manufacturer in the world would be using them. The idea of swirling the air (which is what the hiclone does) will work in some applications, particularly in carby engines where fuel will atonomise better and flow restriction will be reduced, but on the long runner manifolds used on most efi cars, all the swirl has stopped well before it gets to the point of the fuel injectors.

Re: Hiclone

Aren't hiclones just a cheaper version of spacers? The theory is the same?
