There was a story in Australian Muscle Car a couple of issues ago. One car was for Allan Moffatt but he only raced it a couple of times because his Trans Am Mustang was faster despite 100-odd hp less (hp figures were flywheel but consider at the time the normal HO race cars had around the 400hp mark).
The other car was raced by Pete Geoghegan, this one was white with green stripes. They spent the equivalent of more than a million dollars (adjusted for inflation to current values) in developing and sorting the car

The cars originally started as XW but were fitted with XY panels when that came out. The bodies were acid dipped for lightness, they had slide throttle fuel injection, full-floater 4 link rear end (keeping the leaf springs still but they did sfa). Really they went too far as the torsional stiffness wasn't very good with the basic roll cage of the day and eventually they had to go back and strengthen the car.
