Anybody got an idea where I can buy a 260 engine from? Complete with all ancillaries, ie: power steering pump, alternator, compressor etc. Would Ford/FPV direct be an option or would I have to go in at Dealer level. 2nd hand is an on my mind but I don't know how many write offs are around.
yes. as soon as i clicked the link i just knew it was that one. its been well run in too.
seriously though Ford/FPV should be able to sell you one i would imagine or check some of the countries BIGGEST wreckers. they do come up to auction occasionally but youd be buying the whole car and would cost more.
what are your plans for the 260?

Well, believe it or not, I'm going to make my wife (AUII TE50) "THE BOSS"
Would the Boss engine fit under the hood of a TE50.
260 must be at least 5,000 cheaper??? - (no change to bottom end)
I doubt it would be, difference between the 290 & 260 is silghtly higher compression ratio in the 290 via different pistons but still only cast shite. Slightly lumpier cams, they sit differently than 260's cams, different valves. But jeez it's going to cost aleast $15-20,ooo to get it in and running. But if you do it make that would be one custom ride and would sure get some attention.

The amount of money you are going to have to spend, not only on the motor, but wiring harness, ecu and install, I doubt its worth it!
Not only is your opinion just what it is, an opinion. factually, you are incorrect. Lets say I trade the vehicle in on a new fully optioned XR8, My trade price will be $25,000 at best. The XR8 will cost me 55k + ORC. In 5 years time, the XR8 has dropped to a resale of, say, $25,000 (Generous) thats over $30,000 loss compared to a complete install which will be far less than 30k.-I do plan to sell the Windsor to recoup some cost- The TE50 will still probably be worth 18-20k anyway. Also, while exterior looks on AU vs BA rage on, most people who put there hand on there heart will say that a T-series interior is as good as or better than a plasticy BA. And both my wife and I are fond of the car, what more can I say.

Still, the labour and parts cost to strip and reassemble the bottom end and cylinder heads would have to add up
