There have been a lot of threads on here lately about one thing or another not being right with XR8's. I'm beginning to wonder if I am the only person really happy with their XR8. So I thought a poll might help to see if it's really just a few who are unhappy or most XR8 owners on the forums.
I have had alot of problems with mine, Brakes, clutch, diff and an ongoing major 'clunking issue' whenever I change gear. Despite all this it is still the best looking/handling car I have ever owned and I still beam with pride driving down the road. I accepted the fact that buying a complete new model car at its series 1 stage will have some faults and as long as the dealer keeps doing all they can to rectify the faults I will continue to buy the future models(hopefully GT next)
Parents are over the moon the only problem is that mum will never let dad drive it she loves it so much, no probelems with the car, and just as that smile starts to come off there face a boot through the floor fixes that
i'n regard to turning heads in blood orange where ever we go melbourne, adelade or just a local cruise people just don't stop looking
After stepping out of a barra 220 Manual with the usual Herrod Mods into a XR8 SSS with the same Herrod stuff I admit that my first inpression was "THIS THINGS A SLUG!!"
On my QLD trip I floored it at about 95kph to overtake a Semi or two, When I saw the Traction Control Light flickering as I hit a couple of small bumps at the same time that first impression started to fade rapidly.
We have done just over 7000klm's now and it just keeps getting better. We just love it.
Cheers, Bazza.
ps:I still wish I had stuck with the Manual
I have only had it a week, and 4 days of that were spent on a hoist with half the engine in bits, so I think my first experiences are a little tainted.
Still the little bit I have driven it I am impressed, doesn't turn as many heads as the ute did but that will change shorlty.
