How hard is it to Turbo a XE-XF EFI?

I may be looking at a future project car, XE of XF EFI ute or Fairmont, and was looking at turboing the 250. Just was wondering whats involved and how hard is it to do yourself?

Thinking of a T72 turbonetics turbo or T04 Garrett. What would be best or would there be something better?

Looking for high 12sec to low 13 sec 1/4 mile times. Standard Borg Warner diff with at least a 3.27 ratio, no burnouts (maybe drifting), manual gearbox if possible, intercooler if nec., and mild cam.

Anything else I need to consider?

Wallet? well its a project so it will be done over time, I guess a budget of about 10k in total not including the value of the car is around the ball park.
It will be used for street/strip purposes mainly so it will need to have street manners for those big ford cruises!

Re: How hard is it to Turbo a XE-XF EFI?

I was reading a interesting article in Ford Performance No.4 about turboing XD/XE/XF & EA/EB.

I posting some info in relation to the article in a reply to this thread (if your interested):

Re: How hard is it to Turbo a XE-XF EFI?

There was an XE turbo available new from some ford dealers. I had a look at an efi 6cyl turbo, with a ford letter of verification. I think it was done through AIT?
It was available in 3 stages, and the one I drove was the stage 3 - 200kw. They looked standard, apart from the 2 vents in the bonnet. BTW - the car was a manual S pac sedan.

That is one tuff XF! Mate I'm not looking to go all out like that, but I would like to 200-250rwkw in the end.
But yeah, sick car. Something I'd cream over if I saw it in real life!
