Mine has cost about double what I first calulated .Best bet is to get quotes on doing the things you now you want done and then take a look at what is left to do on the car then add a couple more thousand for little things that you would never have thought of .
The worst killer is doing the things that aren't broken yet but worth replacing now because its easier to do now than later .With you doing the paint you will save a great deal .As Brenden said I would aim for $10,000 but would allow double.
i would have spent 10k on the gt already and i havn't started on the body yet.
if your going to spend a lot of money try and get something that won't depreciate for example one of the rarer models like: gt, gs, esp, cobra.
mine was going to be a tidy up for a few K but then its the ol' "might as well do the engine bay while I am at it" and then go for a ride is someone elses car to see how things can perform.....'thanks Nick & Brenden' and suddenly your bestest friend in the world is the bank manager!
