I posted this question ages ago, but since our cars have come a long way since then and there are a lot of new members, I'm curious to know roughly how much everyone has spent on there pride and joy so far?(without including the cost of the car)...

hmmm, i'd say about $2500 so far and i've had the car for about 6 months.
most of that is my wheels ($1400) and stereo stuff ($800)

and then there is all the services n stuff

the initial price for the car was $11,000, it'd only done 100,000 k's and was in as-new condition.

the spending may blow out to about $4000 if i have to repair the damage at my own cost :/

Bought it in Feb '01

800 bucks for stereo, 800 bucks for two sets of suspension, 400 on motor, say 250 on things like wheel bearings, steering rack, bushes, servicing etc 600 on tyres........

still to come

2 grand towards paint
300 towards fixing aircon and fitting thermos
1800 EL GT mags
another 800 on the stereo
however many $$$ for the manual conversion (depends wha box i get)

and im looking at about 8 grand for the turbocharger set up. Maybe 9. Probably 10.

I bought mine for 6k from my folks. Since then I've spent:
3300 on paint/panel work
2500 on wheels, tyres, and powdercoating
450 on exhaust and tip
450 on suspension
700 on head unit, sub, amp
650 on twinlight conversion
100 on clear front and side indicators

I think thats it.....

And of course there's more to come! Keep an eye out for my car in the fordforums showroom, coming soon, or the next Melbourne cruise!!

Hehe I just remembered other stuff too!
1200 for new head gasket and radiator
and 400 for new alternator and belt

So if the maths is right, thats 9750 bucks I've spent in about 10months... Thank god for full-time work!

I've spent close to $14,000 on my car already :/ and it's not even lowered, it's got it's origional paint job and the performance has not been touched.... and that doesn't include any repairs!

Too much!
Bought the car for $2000
$300 on manual
$300 on EL intake
$300 on superlow springs
$300 on oil, head bolts, etc.
Can't think of anything else....Total $1200 plus $2000 = $3200
Not bad for a manual EB in mint condition!
Oh yeah shortly will have to pay for the new wiring loom etc., probably a few hundred more (due to trip computer etc.)
New wiring + EF XR6 exhaust/extractors: $500.
Total not including price is now $1700.

My reply to this question always seems to amaze me.
I'd say $10000+ on top of the cost of the car.
Where did it all go......

$4000 on the car
$176 to convert to MPI
$300 on the cheapest pioneer headunit (DEH2450 dont laugh i was skint at the time)
$400 odd on speakers
$500 on head change
$700 on amp and a 12" sub
$500 odd on tires and wheel alignment

Needs:
Motor expected $450 (old one has cracked piston at the moment and is gonna die some time soon (also did 15.66 on it

)
Install motor $150
Bushes ? $200
Pedel box welded maybe $60

That was the first one

The 'Project'

$500 for the car (EA2 Fairmont minus motor trans and front seats)
allowing $2000 for motor build up
EF/EL interior $$ no idea
3.45 LSD? $600
Thermofans ? $200
Maybe EF/EL doors to get 6.5" speaker holes $300 (these are new and unpainted)

So yeah. Cars are money holes, no question about that

$30 on new airpipe from airbox to throttle body,
$500 for the 2.5" exhaust,
$100 for the Pioneer headunit (deh-246)
$0 for my rear kenwoods (kfc-1666),
$500 the other week for new Toyo tyres..

Soon to come hopefully,
Extractors, Shifter kit.
