i just got my rego renewal for the XB fairmont and thought it would be interesting to know how the rego deal varies between the different states.

mine is in QLD Australia

`75 - XB Fairmont 351 V8 , 4 speed , 5 seats.

CTP insurance................$160.10.....................$304.20
registration fee...............$211.90.....................$423.85
traffic improvement fee...$..20.05.....................$.40.10
surcharge......................$....7.10

total.............................$399.15......................$768.15

late fee after due date = $42.05

road worthy inspections are only needed when a car is sold or has been out of rego for ( 6 months i think )

Bit cheaper here in NZ

my insurance for 12mths = $480
registration for 12mths = $210

Total 12mths = $690 therefore 6mths = $345

Insurance was based on car value @ 12K + allowed for added XB GT bits (bonnet,vents spoiler etc), may go up a bit since found out its a superbird.

wow what a bargin.

the CTP insurance is for Compulsory Third Party Insurance that covers you if anyone except the yourself / driver of the car gets hurt in an accident.
in QLD we pay the transport dept and they pass it on to your nominated insurance company, in some states , ie NSW , the CTP is payed seperate and the reciept is sent in with the rego payment..

the insurance for the actual car is totaly seperate.

That sucks arse - you guys are gettin ripped.

+ the only reason my insurance is that high was cos ive lost my licence twice therefore putting the premiums up - without them probably wouldve been below $400. (it helps to have a good insurance broker!!)

my XB only insured for third party propery , that was one hundred and something.

the full insurance for my BA ute is $555.14 with a good record. 60% no claim and $350 excess.

most companies dont want to know about the XB ......too old.
would need to go through shannons or someone like that that specialises in old cars.

Rego is free, Its really my mum's car and she is a pensioner!
Green slip $273
Inspection fee: $28.70
Comprehensive Insurance: $35 per month (for $15,000).
Total: $646
Then I gotta put petrol in it.
