Re: Huston we have a problem

yeah this problem is a pain in the ass. It's just that little 5c clip that holds the linkage that breaks in half off. It's happened to me 2 or 3 times before. Since you've got a gas tank, RHS tail light is the way to go. Just pull it hard from the edge to break the plastic clip then you'll have to push the boot trim out the way, put your arm through the hole and reach around for the boot linkage then just pull it.

Any other ideas other than torching the car and getting my insurance money.
Check your fuses and voltages - sounds more like an electrical fault not a boot lock fault.

Re: Huston we have a problem

Happened to me and it turned out something in the boot was jamming the lock. Simple fix was to drive along at 40 or so and slam on the brakes to shift everything in the boot forward. Click the boot release, and voilla! boot opens.

Re: Huston we have a problem

Well after all that it was as Sphell put it a 5c clip that came off and droped the bar and the fom that stops it from rattling jamed the cable for the boot release. It was fun kicking the shit out of the tail light though.
Wayne I only fix that on Monday, and it was the bridging plate that holds the globes.

Re: Huston we have a problem

Bloody EA boot locks. They're always causing grief on my car and Mum's. I've lost count of the amount of times I have fixed/adjusted the boot on my Mum's car.

There's heaps of revisions between models as well if youse haven't noticed. The design of the boot lock/latch changed about 10 times from EAI to ED.
