Yeah sounds a bit on the shadey side of things. You think they would have been in contact throughout the rebuild and telling him the costs all along the way. For that price the parts they used must be gold plated.

I personally would not have sent a car interstate for a restoration. I like to be able to stop by unannounced to check on the progress.

sometimes you have to. i live out in the sticks where it would be impossible to get any quality workmanship done.
forums like this one and also the cleveland one have helped me do a fair bit of work myself but there are still some things that i couldn't do myself eg: original retrim of my w2 coded xb gt interior.

i feel for this bloke because a quote IS a quote.

There's 2 sides to every story of course, but if even half of what this guy says is true it's pretty disturbing.

Has anyone had any experience with Grand Tourer? The work of theirs that I have seen looks to be top quality, but it should be for these sorts of prices.

There is always two sides to every story but unfortanately no-one wins in any of these hicups.But one thing i do know is that the place involved i have only heard of good reports from owners who have had there cars there so go figure.

I'd like to hear the other side of the story but I am guessing the othersides not commenting for legal reasons. No sense incriminating yourself. Best left to a lawyer.

[edit]I've had similar experiences but not with those sort of $ myself. Biggest mistake GT made was quoting a time frame. Never do it unless it can be stuck too! Particularly in the auto trade. People need their transport.
