improving 0-50 acceleration

Ok last night i got beaten to 50kph at 2 lights by a Barina SRI, I got in front after he had to change gear. How can I get better acceleration off the line in a BA XT 6cyl auto? I have a herrods catback exhaust, today I fitted a xr6t snorkel.

Will fitting the full exhaust and a k&n panel filter make a significant difference?

1. one foot on the brake, other on the accelorator.
2. Load up revs.
3. On green light release brake!! Instant high rev takeoff.

Re: improving 0-50 acceleration

In any falcon auto, 1st and 2nd gear is quite tall ratio wise. Best option if it can be done is to get a shorter diff ratio either a 3.45:1 or a 3.73:1. However i have heard there are a few problems in the BA in converting diff ratios.

Re: improving 0-50 acceleration

Yeah who wants to race under 50kph....a diesel truck can take off in 4th gear quicker than some cars, but thats pointless on a race track now isnt it

Re: improving 0-50 acceleration

Tell that to the Barina driver who is probably telling all his mate's how he draged of a falcon,
A small car with light weight has an advantage in that area, againt's our Falcon.
