Just a Few questions

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd pick ur brains for a little while.. I drive an EA II fairmont ghia with superlows and im trying to get the car to "go" a bit better as well as look a bit better.

I've been told that the EA 6 loves an aftermarket exhaust, and that is high on my list of things to get...Im also thinking about a cam, want something quite lumpy but still streetable.... What cam would you recommend?

Also im trying to improve the external apperance of the car... How much would silver door handles cost? Also how much for silver side strips? Was going to respray the entire car but money is a major factor...

Also another question, what is the best oil to chuck in the EA? Should I stick to the recommended oil rating (as it says on the oil cap) or go for something a bit thicker/thinner? Its done just a pinch over 250,000, a brand new ED head was put on less than 6 months ago (with brand new valves/springs etc) and it dosent blow any smoke or anything like that.....

for performance: look at what qwikcorty has done to his car.
its a faily nippy EA :)

I recommend painting the side strips and door handles.
there has been a few posts on here about painting them so i'm sure you could find some info.

Exhaust and extractors will most likely give around about 15-20% more power, as well as a mean exhaust note Look at some induction mods as well, to get more air into the engine. Cams are ok, but are also expensive if you don't do them yourself.

Try and stay away from headwork until the last resort. Explore everything else first..

A bigger diff will get you better take off, if that's your thing..

Seeing as though you've just done your head, i wouldn't muck around with it too much. Wait until the gasket blows or something and do some headwork while it's off..

Colour code everything, it looks 1000 times better on EA-ED cars. Handles, mirrors, bumpers, the works. I like Simon's (Bass_Crazy's) as an example, and even sunny's is looking shit hot.

Cool.. Im not a mechanic by any means but i know my way around the motor so I'd be more than happy to do a cam myself... All the stuffing about we did with the head has taught me heaps about how it all works...

I was thinking on modding the airbox to run some piping or heat shielded tube into the front spoiler for a bit more cold air, would that be ok?? Obviously id run it as low as possible without havning to worry about water and crap getting sucked into my motor... What sort of power gain should be had by a cold air setup like the one i just described? I cant imagine it being very massive but anythings better than nothing... My mates VK 5.0L is putting out 104rwkw, my aim is to beat that and show him what fords can do
