Well on the way home tonight all of a sudden my powersteering went to no powerstering, get outa my car pop the bonnet and site loads of smoke come pouring out, the fluid went all over the cat, nrma guy comes I have blown the high pressure hose for the powersteering! Great so my car is off the road till monday.

How much u rekon it will cost to fix??? Is much involved.

Not much involved to fix it mate... Do you have a jack?
Looking at about $60 I recon.
If you have to bleed the Pump jack it up & whilst running turn the steering wheels from lock to lock.

god you are VERY VERY lucky. in dads toyota super saloon a few years back i took a round about and half way through a shit load of smoke started pouring out from the bonnet. thought id done a radiator or something. got out and lifted the hood to find FIRE!!! the power steering hose let go all over the manifold and went up in flames. luckily we put it out before it burnt to nothing. some melted leads and electrial wires was the damage but it could have been a lot worse. we had a sheet in the boot (dont know why) and thats what put it out, so with out that she would have been gone for sure.

the nrma guy said id be looking at $300-$500 to get someone to fix it.

I had a prob wit some kind of oil leaking on the cat, my powersteering fluid was never going down though had the car for a year and never needed to top it up, but i swear the oil on the cat wasa redish colour and looked as though it had been blown on the cat from where the hose is. Im just curious to wheather it is the hose or the switch or something else??? Could it really cost that much???
