Well,

we finally ordered our new BA today - a V8 Fairmont Ghia. The only option we added was a sunroof, so we'll see how that goes....Jeez, it was tough deciding between the XR turbo and the V8 Ghia though

Can anyone tell me if you can still track the build of a car via a number (SIDO or similar I think it was) via the web ?

We should find out tomorrow/thursday what the estimated delivery date will be.

Congrats Slime, I was very close to getting one myself being a driver of numerous Fairmont Ghias.
The Ghia's now are such a good buy, with the suspension, wheels, looks and all gadgets over the Fairmont. Sunroof and most definitely the V8 will make it a very appealing ride.

You won't be disappointed mate! Although they are a bit heavy, they are VERY smooth to drive, have shyteloads of torque and the car has heaps of features to make it a hornfighter!
A good blend of luxury vs power.

Chubbz, we've gone for a colour I wouldn't normally choose as we'll only have the car for 2 years and then give it back (salary sacrifice car). We have gone for congo green - we were thinking mercury silver but we had a congo Ghia on an overnight test drive and I liked it !

Rastus, thanks - I was interested in buying your car but as you'd sold it we had no choice but to get a new one ! I really like the blend of luxury and performance Ford have gone for with the Ghia - plenty of comfort, lots of toys but nicely tied down suspension, no floatiness and a luverly V8.
What made you go for the XR8 instead of a Ghia this time ? We would have gone the XR8 but need an auto and can't wait any longer...

Rodderz, we drove both the 6 and the 8 - you certainly notice the extra weight of the 8 but you REALLY notice the extra go. No choice really...

Counting the days now....
