Who is running these in their I6 AUs and how do you rate them for fuel economy, increase in acceleration etc.?

I had one in my VP SS and the tempreture went through the roof!!

Hmm i had one in my VCT and im pissed off you didnt buy your car sooner as i could have given you it for free (doesnt fit BA) and i didnt have an original to swap it with.

Mine ended up going with the car and only had done about 15,000 kms... grrr

I noticed the engine ran smoother and the gearchanges were a bit quieter.

They do have them at Autobarn and selected Supercheap retailers, expect to pay about 130 bucks!!

do these make $130 worth of power and do they effect economy in any way? how much is a standard filter mines shagged so either is still an option

They are good, washable and are meant to flow better when partially blocked. But make sure it is a good fit, they are made for American vehicles and sometimes an Aussie company matches up a similar sized item for our local cars.

I currently have one in my car. I noticed a slight difference and so did my dad when he drove my car. Wouldnt say it makes any difference to fuel econemy though but acceleration was slightly improved.

In my SS the K&N improved throttle response and I didn't really notice any drop in fuel economy. The tempreture went through the roof though.

After reading the article I might stick with a CAI and standard filter at least until my warranty runs out.

I had one in my AU2 VCT XR6 ute and the engine definetly breathes better, stopped the engine surging when at idle and had slightly better acceleration.
I did several economy tests with it but it didn't improve the fuel economy in any way. I would recomend them any day over the standard filter and once you have bought it it will last the life of the vehicle, (unless you fit it into your next AU vehicle as I did).

Personally, for that sort of money, I would get the pod inside the airbox like I have now. Far better setup IMHO
